Bangladesh Telecom Ltd (BTCL), (former BTTB), has come out with a
range of new services for its customers, which include using internet
at 10 paisas per minute and without any connection fee.
Other services designed to hold customers without dropouts, include
conference call, call waiting, wake up call, etc.,
Managing Director of the BTCL Ashraful Alim told reporters at an
Iftar party to exchange opinions with the journalists on Wednesday.
He said by introducing the new package of services the BTCL wants its
customers not to give up their phones but enjoy its offerings like
new services at a reduced tariff.
The BTCL MD told a questioner that the BTCL has five million
connections in Dhaka city against its capacity of 5,66,000 telephones.
Ashraful Alim said after reduction of call charges the company has
lost its revenue. From July 20 to August 20 it has earned Taka 35
crore and 29 lakh. At present it was losing Taka 70,000 per exchange
since the cost has increased to run 204 exchanges.
On its employees, he said the company owes to them responsibilities
to get better services. He said a separate pay scale for officials
and employees of the BTCL was under process.
An organogram was also being worked out for the company, the BTCL MD
said.
