[Shadeshi_Bondhu] Govt. has not taken any initiative yet to get the Sundarbans and Cox's Bazar beach back in the new 7 wonders

Bangladesh government has not taken any initiative yet to get the
names of Sundarbans and Cox's Bazar beach back in the new 7 wonders
of the world competition after the country's two natural sites were
dropped by the organisers on charges of 'vote rigging and
manipulation.'

The organisers, however, said if vote manipulation and rigging can
be checked, names of the two wonders of Bangladesh would be brought
back in the race.

The names of Cox's Bazar and Sundarbans, which were in first and
second position respectively in the competition, were dropped on
September 3.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Tourism Promotion Association (BTPA) in a
press release yesterday blamed indifferences and failures of the
government, Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC) and Orascom
Telecom Bangladesh Ltd (Banglalink), official sponsor for the
promotion activities of Cox's Bazar, behind dropping out of the
names.

"BPC's ignorance about the rules and regulations of the competition
has caused the present situation. And unknowingly BPC itself held
promotional programmes which were considered as manipulation of vote
to the organisers," said Julius Chowdhury, chairman of BTPA.

The release said the government and the BPC were requested to form a
national committee to coordinate the promotional activities under a
fixed policy through a roundtable discussion at Cirdap auditorium on
July 15 but the government did not pay any attention to it.

There should have been separate sponsors for the three nominees of
Bangladesh--Sundarbans, Cox's Bazar and Ganges--in the competition.
Only Banglalink became a license holder of promotional campaign from
the organisers while campaign for the rest two wonders was conducted
unknowingly, sources said.

They explained that BPC on different occasions inspired vote
manipulation and rigging by different unknown and unauthorised
bodies while Banglalink also did not make clear the terms and
conditions of the promotional activities.

In accordance with the rules, BPC is entrusted with the job to
campaign for Cox's Bazar while Forest Department for Sundarbans and
Shipping Ministry for Ganges. But BPC campaigned for both Cox's
Bazar and Sundarbans while the responsible departments did not make
any move for respective work, sources said.

The BTPA release also mentioned that unknowingly BPC recently
published as notification in a national daily asking people to vote
for the wonders of Bangladesh through www.vote 4 bangladesh.com,
which has no authority to collect vote or carry out promotional
activities.

Sources said that websites like Pabna.info, and applications
regarding voting for Bangladeshi wonders in facebook are
manipulating and rigging vote.

The websites have a selected a list of seven or more wonders of the
world and a person cannot cast vote except that seven names and
organisers of the competition have found out.

Julius also said that Akij Food and Beverage (Lemu) illegally used
logo of the organisers in campaign for Cox's Bazar though only
license holder can use the logo while the other can conduct campaign
without using logo.

"The government have not taken a policy or formulated a national
committee to have an organised voting which is not impossible at
all. And now though the names were dropped three days back the
government has not taken any decision yet or any measure to stop the
unauthorised promotional activities," said Julius.

[Shadeshi_Bondhu] RAB site hacker Shahi arrested

Rapid Action Battalion have arrested four people, including the RAB website hacker Shahi Mirza.

Saboteurs hacked into the RAB website (www.rab.gov.bd) Friday night.

RAB media cell director Abul Kalam Azad told bdnews24.com that they picked up four persons from a Mirpur residence Saturday night. The arrestees claimed they were students of a private institution.

Shahi, 'leader' of the arrested youths, confessed to their hacking other sites belonging to different organisations.

He also admitted the name and e-mail address he had posted after hacking the RAB site were real.

Abul Kalam Azad said RAB would hold a press briefing at its headquarters later in the day.

As people entered the website of the elite security force Friday night, they found the words 'Hacked by Shahi Mirza' posted there.

The hacker alleged that the government had not taken suffiecient steps for the development of IT in the country, though it had passed laws to prevent cyber crimes.

Hacker Shahi claimed in the message he left on the site: "You don't know what cyber security is and you don't know how to protect yourselves either."

"Hackers are no criminals, but they happen to be at least ten times better than your (RAB) experts. You guys can't even perceive how meritorious we are," the hacker said.

There are ten useless matters:

Knowledge that is not acted on .

The deed that has neither sincerity nor is based on following the righteous examples of others .

Money that is hoarded, as the owner neither enjoys it during this life nor obtains any reward for it in the Hereafter .

The heart that is empty of love and longing for Allah, and of seeking closeness to Him.

A body that does not obey and serve Allah .

Loving Allah without following His orders or seeking His pleasure .

Time that is not spent in expiating sins or seizing opportunities to do good.

A mind that thinks about useless matters

Serving those who do not bring you close to Allah, nor benefit you in your life .

Hoping and fearing whoever is under the authority of Allah and in His hand; while he cannot bring any benefit or harm to himself, nor death, nor life; nor can he resurrect himself.

However the greater of these matters are wasting the heart and wasting time. Wasting the heart is done by preferring this worldly life over the Hereafter, and wasting time is done by having incessant hope. Destruction occurs by following one's desires and having incessant hope, while all goodness is found in following the right path and preparing oneself to meet Allah.

How strange it is that when a servant of Allah has a [worldly] problem, he seeks help of Allah, but he never asks Allah to cure his heart before it dies of ignorance, neglect, fulfilling one's desires and being involved in innovations. Indeed, when the heart dies, he will never feel the significance or impact of his sins.

" Man is eyes, the rest is only flesh: But the true eyes are those that see the Friend (i.e Allah) ; .......Merge the whole of yourself in your eyes, Go towards the vision, go towards the vision, go towards the vision."

What the nation (or the govt) is expecting by letting them go and what could be the problem in their reasoning? What could be done to fix?

If you are willing to consider the scenario in the form of a story - here is one for you:

You want to sow some good plants in a deserted land so that in time the land can become a place where life can grow and sustain. However, there is another group of people avowed to keep the land deserted since their business is not with life, rather they deal with death and profit from it. So, every time you sow plants, these other group destroys the plants in its early stage. It is well known that a plant would take some time to grow fully, but that slow process ensures that most of the plants are killed before they grow to their full potential, before they can become big trees that protects life, grows life and peace.

What should you do? If this "you" is actually the government, what would you suggest the government to do so that they become successful in growing enough plants so a virtuous cycle may start where life can grow and sustain forever?

Before going to the suggestion part, let us see how the government is diagnosing the problem and what they seems to be thinking.

1. First they caught several leaders from the group who profit from death irrespective of their color.

2. Then they realized that the roots of these groups is too big. When the leaders are in, other smaller ones are taking dictates from the jails.

3. Now, govt is thinking may be if we manage the leaders, may be they will stop sending signals to their lower ranks not to destroy the plants.

4. There is two problem in this strategy:

A. It could be a totally wrong approach in the sense that expectation of managing someone who 'profit from death' is not realistic. In that case, a better approach could be to outnumber the culprits - sow more plants than they can destroy. How to do that? Easiest answer to that is to use economic incentives - footsoldiers do not have much say on the strategy. They want to earn so they can support their families. If you can give economic incentives to the footsoliders to behave, they will leave their leaders who have built a career through 'profiting from death'. In other words, the vicious cycle of corruption economy will have to be broken by instilling virtous cycles. Government has tried some, but they failed miserably in most cases. It needs more time. To read a previous article on the same theme, you may read this - "The finance and investment policies of CG - two specific proposals".

B. Its also wrong in the assumption that they can actually manage the leaders - for a different reason. Over time, these leaders had relegated to become insignificant - they have already been taken over by the 'original' forces of desertification. Just like in many science fiction movies where aliens come to the earth and take over the control of many important human being and wait for a proper moment to unleash destruction; we think the major two political parties and a portion of their top-tier leadership has been taken over by the defeated forces of 1971. The two parties are incapable of behaving - they have become incabable of stoping 'profiting from death' - because they no longer control themselves. Don't be surprised if many of the top and medium tier leaders of these two parties are actually bank-rolled by those defeated forces that spawned their network upon the society in a junction of our history because of two simultanous (planned or unplanned) event:

(i) A political vacuum created by the deaths of our notable citizens - during Liberation War on the war-front, selected killing of intellectuals at the end of Liberation War, killing or netralizing of many JSD political operatives during post-Liberation War by Mujib government and eventual killing of Mujib.

(ii) The vacuum created was filled by those 11,000 alleged war criminals who were under-trial at the time of Mujib's death.

With this background, what is the suggestion? You have to do both. You have freeing the leaders in the hope of managing them so that they stop 'profiting from death'.

But you should not stop there. You have to ACTUALLY free them so that they can act in their free will. They have forgot how to live a free human being who should always be in favour of growing and sustaining life. How to do that?

Try the war criminals. Now.
