Ubuntu , called Intrepid Ibex.

An Article about Love by Swami Vivekananda

I once had a friend who grew to be very close to me. Once when we were sitting at the edge of a swimming pool, she filled the palm of her hand with some water and held it before me, and said this:

"You see this water carefully contained on my hand? It symbolizes Love."

This was how I saw it: As long as you keep your hand caringly open and allow it to remain there, it will always be there. However, if you attempt to close your fingers round it and try to posses it, it will spill through the first cracks it finds.

This is the greatest mistake that people do when they meet love...they try to posses it, they demand, they expect... and just like the water spilling out of your hand, love will retrieve from you .

For love is meant to be free, you cannot change its nature. If there are people you love, allow them to be free beings.

Give and don't expect. Advise, but don't order. Ask, but never demand.

It might sound simple, but it is a lesson that may take a lifetime to truly practice. It is the secret to true love. To truly practice it, you must sincerely feel no expectations from those who you love, and yet an unconditional caring."

DHAKA, Nov 12 (Reuters) - GSMA, the global trade body representing the mobile industry, called on Bangladesh to issue 3G licences soon to make broadband services more widely available.

Licensing the 2100 MHz spectrum band for 3G services would enable Bangladeshi operators to launch mobile broadband services, which their customers can use to gain fast and easy access to the Internet and online services, it said on Wednesday.

Bangladesh's mobile sector has grown rapidly, with user numbers reaching more than 45 million at end-September from 200,000 in 2001, while the country has only 1.32 million fixed-line phones.

"Laying new fixed-line connections is expensive and inefficient, so high-speed mobile networks are Bangladesh's best bet to realise the many social and economic benefits that arise from widespread access to broadband services," said Ricardo Tavares, senior vice president for public policy at the GSMA.

Analysts predict the number of subscribers could top 70 million by 2011, nearly half the country's population of more than 140 million people.

Many developing countries, including Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Kenya and South Africa, have already deployed mobile broadband services enabling their people to get easy access to information on health, education, job opportunities and agriculture.

There are six cellphone carriers in Bangladesh, including five foreign operators.

Grameenphone, controlled by Norway's Telenor (TEL.OL: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz), leads the market with 20.82 million subscribers, followed by Egyptian company Orascom Telecom's ORTE.CA Banglalink, then AKtel, majority owned by Telekom Malaysia International (TLMM.KL: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz).

The country's telecom regulatory body for the second time in a gap of
less than five months has further slashed the internal bandwidth
charges of submarine cable network by around 60 per cent.

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BRTC) Monday
said the latest reduction of the internal bandwidth charges will help
to lower the cost of internet use in the country.

The commission officials said the new tariff rate that is to come into
force on December 1, will power the government's efforts to increase
the number of internet users' base deep into the countryside. The
government has set a target to increase the internet penetration to 30
per cent by 2011 from existing around one per cent.

Under the new tariff rate, monthly line rent (E1) of internal
bandwidth operators will be 200taka-250taka for 0-50 kilometer (km),
155taka -200taka for 51km-100 km, 120 taka -160 taka for 101km-200 km,
100 taka -130 taka for 201km-300km, and 75 taka -95 taka for 301km and
above distance.

The regulatory body has already instructed the six cellular phone
operators, Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) operators,
internet services providers (ISP) to reschedule their tariff rates in
line with the newly announced bandwidth charges by November 13.

The chairman of the BTRC Maj Gen (retd) Manjurul Alam has called upon
all stakeholders to ensure benefit of the lower rate for the mass people.

He said there is no other alternative than to make internet connection
available in rural areas at cheaper rate to eradicate poverty and
power economic growth of the country.

"I hope that the reduction of internal bandwidth charges will
contribute significantly in increasing the number of internet users
and broadband penetration," he expressed the hope.

However, the BTRC sources said the proposed national broadband
policy-2008, aimed at facilitating growth of high-speed Internet
services at affordable prices across the country, is at the final
stage to be approved advisory council.

They said chief adviser Dr. Fakhruddin Ahmed has already reviewed the
draft national broadband policy-2008, which will also contribute in
expanding internet use.

আসিফের জন্য ভালোবাসা...

মাত্র দুই মাস আগেও আমরা এক সাথে ঘুরে বেরিয়েছি। কাম্প্যাসে চায়ের দোকানে চা খেতে খেতে আড্ডা মেরেছি, রাত্রি তিনটায় হাটতে হাটতে সূরমা ব্রীজের উপর উঠে নদীর শীতল বাতাস উপভোগ করেছি, কিংবা রাতভর কম্পিউটারে মোস্ট ওয়ান্টেড গেমসে পাল্লা লেগেছি... তখন ভাবতেও পারিনি আমাদের থেকে কেউ হারিয়ে যেতে পারে। জানতেও পারিনি আমাদেরই কারো শরীর এ বাসা বেধেছে মরনব্যাধি কান্স্যার!!!

আমাদের সহপাঠী সিভিল ইঞ্জিয়ারিং-এর দ্বিতীয় বর্ষের আসিফ আজ আমাদের সাথে নেই। দূরারোগ্য ক্যান্সার একটু একটু করে তার জীবন প্রদীপ নিভিয়ে দিচ্ছে। সুদুর সিংগাপুরের হস্পিটাল এর বেডে এ শুয়ে আসিফ আজ পাল্লা লড়ছে লিভার ক্যান্সার এর সাথে...

আসিফকে আমরা হারাতে চাই না! আসিফের চিকিত্ষার জন্য প্রয়োজন চল্লিশ লক্ষ টাকা । আমরা কি পারি না আসিফকে আবার প্রিয় ক্যাম্পাসে ফিরিয়ে আনতে???

উত্তর হয়তো পারি, কিন্তূ এ জন্য দরকার অনেক অনেক টাকা। আসিফের পরিবারের পক্ষ থেকে ইতিমধ্য প্রায় ২০ লক্ষ টাকা জোগাড় করা হয়েছে। আরো অনেক অনেক টাকার প্রয়োজন। টাকাটা কি আসলেই অনেক বেশি? শাহাজালাল বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রায় সারে চার হাজার শিক্ষার্থী, আমরা কি পারি না আমাদের বন্ধুর জন্য এতটুকু করতে? আমরা কি এমন দুই হাজার হৃদয়বান মানুষকে খুজে বের করতে পারব না মাত্র এক হাজার টাকা করে দিতে পারবে? তাহলেইতো আসিফের চিকিত্ষার বাকি টাকাটা জোগার হয়ে যায়! আর যদি আমরা এমন চার হাজার মানুষকে খুজে বের করতে পারি তাহলে দরকার হিসেবটা আরো সহজ! মাত্র পাচশ!! পাচশ টাকা করে দান করতে পারবে এমন চার হাজার মানুষ কি পৃথিবীতে নেই? আমরা কি তাদের খুজে পাব না??

আসিফের জন্য আমাদের খুজতে হবে! তাই আমরা গত দুই দিন সিলেট শহরের বাড়ি বাড়ি ঘুরে সাহায্য চেয়েছি, খুজে বেরিয়েছি এমন মানুষদের! যে যে ভাবে পারে যতটুকু পারে, আসিফের জন্য আমরা টাকা জোগার করেছি। বার বার মনে হয়েছে আজ আসিফের মত বিপদে যদি আমি পরতাম? তাই সবাই মিলে আমরা আজ পথে নেমেছি। আসিফকে বাচাতে হবে! এত সহজে আমরা আসিফকে চলে যেতে দেব না।

আসিফ আবারো ফিরে আসবে আমাদের মাঝে! আমরা আবার এক সাথে ক্যাম্পাসে হেটে বেড়াব, চা খেতে খেতে চুটিয়ে আড্ডা মারব। রাতের বেলা হাটতে হাটতে হারিয়ে যাব সুরমার পাড়ে! নাহয় কম্পিউটারে ল্যান দিয়ে মোস্ট ওয়ান্টেড খেলতে খেলতে পার করে দেব সারা রাত!!!

It was the first day of a school in USA and a new Bangladeshi student named ABUL entered the fourth grade.
The teacher said, 'Let's begin by reviewing some American History.

Who said 'Give me Liberty , or give me Death'?
She saw a sea of blank faces, except for ABUL, who had his hand up:

'Patrick Henry, 1775' he said.
'Very good!'

Who said 'Government of the People, by the People, for the People, shall not perish from the Earth?'
Again, no response except from ABUL.
'Abraham Lincoln, 1863' said ABUL.

The teacher snapped at the class, 'Class, you should be ashamed. ABUL, who is new to our country, knows more about its history than you do.'
She heard a loud whisper: 'F**k the Bangladeshis, '

'Who said that?' she demanded.
ABUL put his hand up. 'General Custer, 1971.'

At that point, a student in the back said,
'I'm gonna puke.' The teacher glares around and asks 'All right! Now, who said that?'
Again, ABUL says, 'Al Gore to the Japanese Prime Minister, 1991.'

Now furious, another student yells, 'Oh yeah? Suck this!'ABUL jumps out of his chair waving his hand and shouts to the teacher ,
'Bill Clinton, to Monica Lewinsky, 1997!'

Now with almost mob hysteria someone said 'You little shit. If you say anything else, I'll kill you..'

ABUL frantically yells at the top of his voice, 'Michael Jackson to the child witnesses
testifying against him- 2004.'

The teacher fainted. And as the class gathered around the teacher on the floor,
someone said, 'Oh sh*t, we're f**ked!'

And ABUL said quietly, I think it was George Bush, Iraq , 2007.'

Dhaka Warriors beat Ahmedabad Rockets by 13 runs

Another emphatic victory today. Things just keep on getting better and better. The 29th match of the ICL20s Indian Championship featured the resurgent Ahmedabad Rockets take on Dhaka Warriors.These Dhaka Warrior boys are indeed giving us Bangladeshis something to be proud of.

Today's commentator Pat Symcox reckons the facebook Dhaka Warriors Fun Group gives a huge support for Warriors. He mentioned that he was amazed to see the supports for warriors in facebook.

Dhaka Warriors gave an excellent all round performance today against the Ahmedabad Rockets. Now lets just put our fingers crossed especially against Lahore Badshahs because if we can win it we will surely go to the Semi Final. Three cheers for the win of Warriors!

Army being withdrawn, president approves

Troops are being withdrawn from field level, with President Iajuddin Ahmed approving a proposal on Monday noon.

A high official at the Bangabhaban, speaking on condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to brief the media, confirmed it.

Earlier in the Secretariat, home adviser MA Matin told reporters about the army withdrawal.

Military rolled into the streets on Jan. 19, 2007 to assist civil administration after the emergency declared was declared on Jan 11 that year.

Asked whether troops were being withdrawn from field, the adviser replied in the affirmative and said, "It will be done soon."

On whether the state of emergency would be withdrawn, he said, "A gazette is coming. You will see it."

Earlier in the day, he told journalists: "Law and order situation will not deteriorate even after relaxation of the state of emergency. I'm sure about it."

The adviser was asked now that the election schedule had been announced whether the government would relax the state of emergency, Matin said, "Work is going on it... I can say this far, you will now in time."

In most cases hackers try to demonstrate their skills and talent instead diabolic acts. Cyber criminal experts often find many talented hackers are not directly attached with the nefarious intentions. Their knowledge on programming sometimes inject megalomania in their minds and they mistakenly think 'we are extraordinary than general computer users.' Thus a stupidity can be seen in their cracking down on security systems of computer users which is the clue for cyber forensic experts to trace out wicked surfers in the virtual world.

A large part of hackers are obsessed by sacred pleasure to enter cyber zones of netizens. Considering consequences after the hack is totally absence in their minds. A strange pleasure to break cyber security system and to see information of famous companies, security bodies, celebrities, political leaders etc is the inspiration of many hackers.

General finding is teenaged hackers just try to break info-security system to test their capacity to break. Hacking satisfy their pleasure to see the secret information of people. However, incidents of hacking cause huge financial loss to companies and departmental wings of a government.

Some researches revelled most teenagers hack out of curiosity and show a kind of foolishness in the hacking. Thus such hackers can be easily traceable to bring them to the justice. Often parents are not aware of hacking skills of their children. In fact, a big part of parents is preoccupied that hackers grow up in the gang of criminals. Last year results were posted on the website of a local university which was hacked by the children of a few teachers or examiners of the university. Somehow the teachers or examiners provided password of the online result to their beloved kids. Teachers of the technology university could not realise their innocent kids can be hackers and change the results in favour of their friends.

The hackers of RAB website claimed as hackers they are ten times better than experts of RAB. It was reported in the newspapers the alleged hackers mentioned on the RAB's website, "The government does not take any step for ICT development but passed a law about anti-cyber crime."
They further said, "You do not know what the cyber security is or how to protect yourself. Listen, hackers are not criminal. They are 10 times better than your (RAB) experts."

Stupidity of the self-proclaimed genius hackers was using their real identity, own computer, and real IP address (Internet Protocol). RAB officials should not be boastful for arresting the alleged hackers within 24 hours. Stupidity of the hackers was the cause for early arrest. The alleged hackers Abu Musa Mirza Kamruzzaman Shahee reportedly confessed that his team hacked the website of the elite force RAB. Besides the RAB website they hacked 22 websites including Bangladesh Army.

The alleged cyber crime is under the process of investigation and it is the premature period to say finally something against the crime. Court will deliver a judgement about the hack of RAB website and the alleged hackers.

An anonymous survey of about 4,800 San Diego area high school students at the American Psychological Association conference revelled.

•38 per cent students said they copied software without permission.

•18 per cent students went into someone's computer or website without permission, and 16 per cent took material.

Every website is hackable, even if a website is developed by talented programmers who have special expertise in security system. We witnessed the hacking of the websites of Microsoft and a portion of Computer Networks of Pentagon. Terrorists can break any well-protected security system of homes and palaces, they earn skills to know the security loopholes of houses and palaces as well as they gain savvy on technological know-how of breaking the security. Similarly hackers are able to find out weak parts of software, website and data stored in server or computer. Mastery over programming is the reason behind their hacking intention.

In developed countries some organisations look for hackers to protect their information and they are needed for data security. Such hackers are called "white hat hackers" and employers appoint them to protect their data. Cyber shields are developed by them to crack down on rival hackers. They find out and protect loopholes in security system as if hackers cannot explore the loopholes. Many young hackers try to draw attention of media with hacking website of famous organisations. After being freed from jail they get big job offers from security firms.

"Black hat hackers" are those cyber security crackers who break the security system for personal gains. Also any computer user can be hacker at any time if he is inspired by his primitive instinct. Your colleague can try to click on your folder to see your personal letters to someone. If your e-mail account is not signed out during going washroom your colleague can see your personal mails only for fun. Here hacking is a malicious trend of human beings like peeping into windows of people, checking bags of women, listening to secret talks of lovers etc.

Hackers can be victims by their rival hackers in breaking guarded security system. Cyber space is the field for war between "white hat" and "black hat hackers." Endlessly the war can go because software cannot be hundred per cent secure from hackers. So hacker detecting knowledge and mechanism must be created for the protection of valued data.

Some hackers without diabolic intention claim themselves proudly hackers because they find there is not significant wrong with hacking. According to their view instead hacker security system breakers with malicious intentions should called cracker. For the purpose of developing cyber security system they conduct experiments of hacking on the website and networks. Cyber security shield can be developed by such experiments even after the losses for the experiment.

Value of information can be more than billion dollars, a country's data must be regarded as assets like the reserve of the central bank. So ignoring info-security issue can be a havoc to the country. We spent hundreds of core TK for preparing voter or national ID card and the preparation took nine months with including military and experts of several sectors.

If hackers destroy, copy or steal the data of national ID card the country will lose the investment and valuable time spent by militaries and other experts. In addition, national security will come at risk for the collapse of data. So more focus should be laid on the information security and cyber security experts must be trained at the IT institutes.

Hacking of RAB's website drew the attention of IT concern people on the site. The hacking did not only prove that the security options of the site were neglected, but it was poorly developed and every day a few surfs visit the website. Landscape of the RAB website is lagging behind for lack of attractiveness; user friendly options can increase enthusiasm about the website among the commoners; it is needed to be more interactive, rich with information and easy for common people to lodge complain via the website.

[Shadeshi_Bondhu] India proposes joint investment in ICT in Bangladesh

India on Saturday proposed joint investments with Bangladesh in

Information Communication Technology (ICT) sector to help reduce the
existing bilateral trade gap.

"The huge trade gap between the two countries could be reduced
through increased investment in Bangladesh", while the joint ventures
in the ICT could help play a significant role, India's Minister of
State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh told reporters here.

He said investment should be a "two-way thing, unlike trade" and
added that Bangladeshi entrepreneurs also could get prospective
grounds in sectors like pharmaceuticals and textiles as they have
gained expertise in these sectors.

Referring to the long-standing "transit or trans-shipment" proposal
of India, he said Bangladesh could earn USD 1.2 billion by allowing
only two corridors, Kolkata-Guwahati and Kolkata-Agartala.

"Its the easiest way to reduce the bilateral trade gap, while the
current Indian export to Bangladesh is USD 3.3 billion against the
Bangladesh's export volume worth USD 350 million."

Earlier in the day, Ramesh held talks with education and commerce
adviser of the interim Bangladesh Cabinet Hossain Zillur Rahman
proposing the Indian investments in the ICT sector particularly for
developing software targeting the Middle Eastern countries.

The Minister said several "unilateral" steps by India in the past one
year has boosted the economic ties between the two neighbours and
added that New Delhi was also ready to export power on "commercial
basis" from a proposed hydro power plant in Tripura for the increased
economic co-operation.

"We have bilateral cooperation in electricity sector with most of the
South Asian countries...we want to export the power (to Bangladesh)
at a rate which all the Indian states are paying," Ramesh said, who
earlier today also met chief advisers special assistant for Energy
Ministry M Tamim.

Commerce Adviser Rahman earlier today told newsmen that he held talks
with the Indian minister on some "specific proposals" while the
discussions on the joint investment on ICT should be carried forward
and a joint working group could review potential on partnership in
electricity generation.

"India has planned to generate 10,000 MW power in next 10 years in
its northeastern region and we can offer Bangladesh at least 1,000
MW," Ramesh said.

Asked about the prospects of a trilateral arrangement on exploring
huge hydro power in Nepal, Ramesh said the "block building" could be
done at this stage only through bilateral arrangements.

He said Bangladesh-India economic relations witnessed significant
development particularly in the past one year with the latest one
being the New Delhi decision in April to allow duty free access of
eight million garments to Indian market.

Three million pieces were imported while the rests were expected to
enter into Indian market in the next one year, he said.

Bangladesh identified 50 non-tariff barriers for its products in
India, while Ramesh said most of those were related to "testing and
standards" adding that New Delhi proposed installation of two
laboratories for easing the process.

He said India has appointed a reputed international firm to examine
the exportable garments to India while the arrangements were made
earlier for pre-shipment inspection of cement from Bangladesh.

jointly launched a programme of voting for new7wonders of nature from
cyber cafes.

Under the programme 250 cyber cafés across the country will provide
free services to people to vote for selecting the new7wonders of
nature.

The programme was launched at a ceremony at Dhaka Reporters' Unity in
the city yesterday.

Speaking as the chief guest at the launching ceremony Bangladesh
Parjatan Corporation Chairman Shafique Alam Mehdi urged all
organisations to come forward to put the Sundarbans and Cox's Bazar
on the top of the list.

Tourism sector would flourish if the biggest mangrove forest
Sundarbans and the longest sea beach in the world Cox's Bazar are
placed on the top of the list, Shafique said adding that it will also
play a significant role in the economy with the arrival of increased
number of tourists.

Banglalink PR and Communication Manager Sharfuddin Ahmed Chowdhury
informed that to make the Internet facilities available they would
provide one computer to each cyber café.

He also informed that Banglalink is making a documentary on Cox's
Bazar to raise people's awareness for voting.

When Muntasir Mamun and his group embarked on their AIDS campaign on bike sometime in late June, 2008, little did they know what was awaiting them. Hours of trekking through unknown and dangerous terrains, inclement weather, harassment at the hands of unfriendly custom officials are only a few that comes to the mind. That did not however deter the three photojournalists because they were on a mission. They had taken it upon themselves to spread the awareness about AIDS through photography and exchange of ideas with people located in remote areas all over the world. Their tours started off with Thailand and then they traveled to Brazil enroute to Mexico all on a bike. In Mexico, Muntasir Mamun and his group attended the 17th International AIDS conference. They presented the photographs of various Bangladeshi AIDS patients who have been living a normal life in the conference. As part of their advocacy they passed on information about AIDS in a Bangladeshi postcard in various remote areas of the world.

Yesterday, I had an opportunity to have a couple of email correspondences with Muntasir Mamun and he told me that they were currently in Auckland and would have liked to spread the awareness in Australia but there are doubts since the financial condition isn't very sound. Will their wheels and the noble mission to keep the wheel of life running come to an abrupt stop? Isn't there anything we can do about it to allow them accomplish their mission? Please come forward to help them with whatever you can. We waste a lot of money in so many different ways . Can't we just spare $10 or even $5 for these volunteers. Even if you can't send them an email and a word of hoped would be conforting. I'm including Muntasir Mamun's contacts and some links below. Please let your friends and relatives know about it. A NICE STORY TO SHARE

My mom only had one eye. I hated her.... She was such an embarrassment. .
She cooked for students & teachers to support the family.

There was this one day during elementary school where my mom came to

I was so embarrassed.

How could she do this to me?
I ignored her, threw her a hateful look and ran out.
The next day at school one of my classmates said, "EEEE, your mom only
Has one eye!"

I wanted to bury myself.
I also wanted my mom to just disappear..
I confronted her that day and said, " If you're only gonna make me a
Laughing stock, why don't you just die?"

My mom did not respond....
I didn't even stop to think for a second about what I had said, because
I was full of anger.
I was oblivious to her feelings.

I wanted out of that house, and have nothing to do with her..
So I studied real hard, got a chance to go abroad to study.
Then, I got married.
I bought a house of my own.
I had kids of my own.
I was happy with my life, my kids and the comforts, Then one day, my
Mother came to visit me.
She hadn't seen me in years and she didn't even meet her
Grandchildren.

When she stood by the door, my children laughed at her, and I yelled at
Her for coming over uninvited.
I screamed at her, "How dare you come to my house and scare my
Children!"
GET OUT OF HERE! NOW!!!"

And to this, my mother quietly answered, "Oh, I'm so sorry. I may have
Gotten the wrong address,"
And she disappeared out of sight.
One day, a letter regarding a school reunion came to my house.

So I lied to my wife that I was going on a business trip.
After the reunion, I went to the old shack just out of curiosity.

My neighbors said that she died.

I screamed at her, "How dare you come to my house and scare my

GET OUT OF HERE! NOW!!!"

And to this, my mother quietly answered, "Oh, I'm so sorry. I may have
Gotten the wrong address,"
And she disappeared out of sight.
One day, a letter regarding a school reunion came to my house.

So I lied to my wife that I was going on a business trip.
After the reunion, I went to the old shack just out of curiosity.

My neighbors said that she died.
I did not shed a single tear.

A little boy wanted Rs.500 very badly and prayed for weeks, but nothing happened.
Finally he decided to write a letter to GOD requesting the Rs.500.

When the postal authorities received the letter addressed to ' God, Pakistan ', they decided to forward it to the Finance Minister of Pakistan as a joke.
The Finance Minister was so amused, that he instructed his secretary to send the little boy Rs.200. The Finance Minister thought this would appear to be a lot of money to a little boy, and he did not want to spoil the kid.
The little boy was delighted with Rs.200, and decided to write a thanking reply note to God, which reads:

'Dear God: Thank you very much for sending the money. However, I noticed that you sent it through the Finance Ministry in Islamabad, and those donkeys deducted Rs.300 as tax's!
